Midnight in Paris (2011)

I was only vaguely interested in this movie when it was released, and yes, I fully admit that the main reason I went to see it was because of Mr Hiddleston. However, I was pleasantly suprised and absolutely enchanted by it.

It really is a truly beautiful film, though I think I identify a bit too much with Gil’s character, the whole longing for another era, the golden age mentality.

Still, it’s a movie I would recommend and one that I don’t think I will ever tire of watching.

Nostalgia is denial - denial of the painful present… the name for this denial is golden age thinking - the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one ones living in - its a flaw in the romantic imagination of those people who find it difficult to cope with the present.
